Cemetery & Mortuary Association of California
The Cemetery & Mortuary Association of California has served California's cemeteries since 1931.
Upon its founding, the CMAC sponsored the California Cemetery Act under the belief that sound protection of consumers and endowment care funds was the best long-term
interest of the industry. Today, the CMAC membership is composed of cemeteries of all types: for-profit, not-for-profit, religious and fraternal.
The Members of the Interment Association of California voted unanimously at our 2005 Spring Conference in Coronado to re-vitalize our association with the new name Cemetery and Mortuary Association of California.
Even with our new CMAC name, our focus will remain on the effective representation of cemeteries through lobbying and member services including conferences and other learning events.
The updated appellation is also intended to reflect the fact that our membership is comprised of a number of combination cemetery/funeral home properties.
This will provide clarity to consumers, regulators and policy makers regarding the business activities in which our members are engaged.
The new title will also communicate to our industry that CMAC acknowledges each of their perspectives, embraces their participation, and works pro-actively to advance their interests.
CMAC will build on the strong foundation and traditions established through the past 77 years, to obtain new successes for each one of us.
