Online shopping has permeated every level of retail sales and services. Even the funeral and cemetery industries, traditional and slow to change, have been confronted with online retailers selling everything from caskets to cremation urns. Most of these sites attempt to malign the funeral industry, charging them as 'outrageous' and 'price gouging' in their policies. We are not here for that purpose.
Instead, we have found that the vast majority of funeral homes and cemeteries are staffed by genuinely caring individuals, who strive day in and day out to provide their families with the highest level of service. But one unyielding fact remains. Funeral homes and cemeteries are tremendously expensive to operate, and those costs have to be passed on to consumers. It's that simple.
The founders of Markers Direct have over 50 years of experience serving families in the traditional mortuary / cemetery setting. During the 1990's, we began providing custom monument design services directly to the public, for those who desired a more unique memorial than was offered to them by the cemetery or funeral home. As word spread among the local area of our services and as our popularity grew, we expanded to the internet to reach families in other communities. The response exceeded our own expectations, and we now provide granite and bronze memorial products throughout the continental U.S.
